Death was due to tuberculosis of the hip joint, treat- ment for which he had been receiving for a long time. About two years ago he was stricken and for nine weeks was confined to the hospital at Ann Arbor, but returned without success. Since this time he has gradually de- clined in health until the day above stated when death relieved him from the anguish. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the M.E. church, Rev. Ernest Brown, officiating and was attended by about fifty of the children of his school and Sunday school classes, as well as many friends and neighbors of the bereaved parents. Music for the funeral service was rendered by two of the girls' classes of the Sunday School and added greatly to the solemnity of the occasion. Interment took place in Baraga cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is with the parents. Transcriber's Note: Carl William Mattson was 13 years old at the time of his death. ===============================================================================
