Friday, 20 August 1875

         MATIE DECKER, daughter of JAMES D. DECKER of Arenac
       Township, was scalded to death a few days since. Her
       mother was cleaning house and left the room for a few
       moments. During her absence the child fell into a pail
       of hot water and died after five hours of intense
       suffering.
