         Standish, Mich., Jan. 9. - GEORGE W. BROWN, register
       of deeds and deputy treasurer of Arenac County, was
       found dead in his bed Wednesday morning, with is re-
       volver in the bed and a bullet hole in his temple. No
       reason can be assigned for the suicide as everything
       pertaining to his business affairs appears to be in
       the best of condition.
