QUIGLEY. MAHONEY ex- pired in less than an hour. He and the accused had some words regarding the driving of saw logs, and meeting in the Standish House the shot was fired before anyone could interfere. QUIGLEY was arrested and waived exami- nation. The Arenac Circuit Court meets May 26. The pri- soner was brought to the Bay County Jail this evening. He denies having done the shooting. The deceased was 29 years old and had a wife and two small children. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Livingston Democrat Thursday, 15 January 1885 Last May WM. QUIGLEY and JERRY MAHONEY had a quarrel in Standish, Arenac county, over driving saw logs, in which QUIGLEY drew a revolver and shot MAHONEY through the left lung, the injury producing death twenty minutes later. On the 6th his trial commenced in the Arenac cir- cuit court and ended on the 8th, the jury rendering a verdict of not guilty. Self defense was the prisoner's plea. The verdict gives general satisfaction. ===========================================================================
