MARANDA SHAW, who had been ill for two years with para- lysis. She was a saintly woman and her pure life was a benediction to many who have come in contact with it. She was 86 years old and for years has been prepared to enter her Heavenly home. MISS MARANDA NICHOLS was born in Middlebury, Genessee county, N.Y., May 14, 1891. When a girl she moved to Ohio with her parents. Later she moved to Canada, where she was married to LEVI B. SHAW, who died about 30 years ago. After a residence of 16 years in the Queen's Domain Mr. and Mrs. SHAW took up their home in Michigan in 1846. After living for a time at Kalamazoo they moved to the farm now owned by CHARLES GRAY in this township. They were the parents of twelve children, seven of whom yet live to sound the praises of a loving mother. The children are MRS. NANCY JANE FANCHIER and MRS. PHOEBE CLARK of California; MRS. RILLA ALLEN of Juanita, Neb.; MRS. LIZENA FRANCES of Hastings, Neb.; MRS. MARY COLE of Bonanz, Colo.; MRS. EVA KING of Reed City and DAVID SHAW of Cambridge City, Ind. Three brothers and two sisters also survive her: MRS. PHOEBE COATES of this place, MRS> O'CONNER and STEPHEN NICHOLS of Three Rivers, OLIVER NICHOLS of Cadillac and J. B. NICHOLS of Howard City. The funeral was held from the M. E. Church, of which she was a member, at 2:30 yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev. H. Abraham. Interment in Mountain Home. ===========================================================================
