EARL FRAYER, aged about forty-five years, was killed at a barn raising at Mr. WILLIAM BASSETT'S, in the Town of Heath, on Thurs- day at about 4 o'clock p.m. This fatal accident was caused by a timber falling on MR. FRAYER and smashing his skull. FRAYER lived fifteen minutes after he received his injuries. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Detroit Free Press Tuesday, 17 May, 1870 The Allegan County Democrat, of the 11th, records this melancholy accident: MR. EARL FRAYER was killed while assisting at a barn raising at WM. BASSETT'S, in the Town of Heath, on Tuesday afternoon last. While sending up the last piece of plate with a tackle, MR. FRAYER guiding it from a staging, the end struck a timber, breaking the tackle and letting the piece fall upon his head, crushing the back part of his skull in, and knocking him from his place to the ground.
