                        ONE DEAD, MORE MISSING
                       AS FIRE RAGES IN FOREST.
                       
           Munising, Mich., Aug. 8. - (AP)- Reports to state
         conservation officers here tonight indicated 100 in-
         habitants of Melstrand, in the state game refuge, 13
         miles east of Munising, had abandoned the village to
         flames advancing on a six mile front. Conservation
         officials headed a party that left here tonight to
         check the safety of 100 CCC workers said to be in the
         path of a fire burning on a five mile front in the
         Hiawatha national forest.
