He was a native of Haverhill, but in early life went to Boston, where he bound him- self to Mr. Evans to learn the silversmith's trade. After acquiring a fortune in his busi- ness, he returned to Haverhill in 1842. He was elected one of the town's Representatives in 1844, and for several years was President of the Haverhill Bank and director of the Haver- hill Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He was very highly esteemed by his fellow-citizens for integrity of character and social qualities. He leaves six children, four sons and two daughters. One of his sons, HENRY MORSE, is a member of the firm of Crosby, Morse & Foss, Boston. His eldest daughter is the wife of the Hon. ISAAC AMES, Judge of probate and insolvency for Suffolk County. ===========================================================================
