Annie Pearl Shassere, 60, of Terre Haute, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in her residence. She was born on Jan. 10, 1948, in Vanleer, TN, to Claude Smith and Dollie Jackson. She was a homemaker, waitress at Coney Island and Russ Brothers Cafe.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Rick Shassere, whom she married Aug. 15, 1980, one son and one daughter; brothers, James Smith and Frank Tipton; sisters, Claudia Lane, Betty Darkis and Mary Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Smith; mother, Dollie Counterman; stepfather, Wilbur Counterman; and one brother, Bobby Lyle.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, 602 S. Seventh Street, with the Rev. Linda Snider officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
