She was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Cumberland Furnace, Tenn., to Joseph Jackson and Ocie Ann Jackson. Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Leon Counterman, whom she married March 4, 1963, two sons, James Smith of Muncie and Frank Tipton of Terre Haute;, four daughters, Annie Shassere, Claudia Barron, Betty Darkis and Mary Thomas, all of Terre Haute; two brothers, Donald Jackson of Columbus, Ohio and James Jackson of Lafayette, Tenn., 25 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her faithful companion dog, Ruby. She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Lyle, her parents; one brother, Robert Jackson; and one sister, Ruby Jackson. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.K. Kester officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn Cemetery. ===========================================================================
