C. publication, "Heroes All" which is soon to be placed on the market. All of them received the distinguished service cross. The new book is a compilation of the acts of bravery which won members of the American Expedition- ary forces honorary decorations. It lists all the individual soldiers thus honored. The four Lafayette men in its list are CHESTER E. PLATT, (deceased), HERMAN C. HIGGS, ROBERT A. BYRNS and GEORGE V. BROWN. CHESTER E. PLATT was killed in action at Chauteau Thierry on June 7, 1918, being the first Lafayette boy to give his life in battle overseas. He was serving with the marine corps. He entered the service in April 1917, the same month the United States went to war, and arrived in France in June, 1917. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. JACOB PLATT and was born in Stockwell, November 5, 1895. His service cross was awarded posthumously. HERMAN C. HIGGS a private in the medical corps, entered the service in July, 1917, and sailed for France in June, 1918. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. WILLIAM A. HIGGS. ROBERT A. BYRNS is a brother of Mrs. ROBERT L. JAQUES and was a commissioned officer, being wounded in battle. No record of GEORGE V.
