Coleman, 76, a Putnam County native, died of complications of heart surgery Feb. 12 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich. He was a pipe fitter for Lear Seigler Inc. before retiring in 1975. A Dearborn, Mich. resident for most of his life, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded in Italy. He received the Silver and Bronze stars, a Purple Heart and other honors. Mr. Coleman was commander of the DAV Cpl. Gray Post 51, a past commander of the Lt. Archie Kelly VFW Post and a mason. Survivors include his wife, Helene; three sons, Paul Coleman, Alan Coleman and Charles Coleman; two sisters, Velma Hendrix, Anderson, and Mary Brown, rural Greencastle; a brother, Maurice Coleman, Monroe, La.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell Coleman and Harold Coleman. ===========================================================================
