THOMAS USELMAN, one of Parke county's pioneers, died very suddenly, last Sunday evening at 6 o'clock, from heart disease. He was enjoying the best of health, and exceedingly lively for one of his age, when the angel of Death placed a hand in his and carried his spirit to the realms above. While sitting in the yard talking and laughing with his wife, and Mr. WM. NEWCOMB, his son-in-law, he fell forward to the ground, and before either could reach him, life had departed. MR. USELMAN was one of the first settlers of Parke county; having resided in this county for 51 years. He was born at Circle- ville, Ohio, in 1811, and in 1835 he left the home of his birth, and walked to Parke county, where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his sudden death. He was respected and honored by all who knew him, for his uprightness toward his fellow man, always being ready and willing to help a friend or neighbor, when assistance was required. His name will long be remembered by his numerous friends and relatives. The funeral took place Monday at 3 o'clock p.m. at his late home in Roseville. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Indianapolis News Saturday, 10 July, 1886 THOMAS USELMAN, one of Park (sic) county's pioneers, died very suddenly a few days ago.
