SAMUEL JONES WAS KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY AN ERIE TRAIN. ------ (From Monday's Daily) Decatur, Ind., Nov. 26 - SAMUEL JONES, aged 79, well known about town, was instantly killed, suffering a broken neck, arm and being badly cut and bruised about the entire body, when he was struck by a train on the Chicago & Erie railroad Saturday evening about 5 o'clock. The accident happened at the Mercer avenue cross- ing. MR. JONES was temporarily acting as crossing watchman for THOMAS TEEPLE the regular watchman, who had gone away for a few moments. A passenger train was passing at the time and JONES stepped from the track on which it was running into the way of a freight on the side track. His body was hurled some distance, death com- ing instantly. The deceased has two sons and two daughters, a daughter residing in Bluffton. He had made his home with the JOSEPH HOWER family here for some time. The body was taken to the Yager Cros. & Reinking morgue and prepared for burial and then was tak- en to the HOWER home. MR. JONES was employed in a hoop mill at Louisville, Ky., several years ago. G. A. CHRISTEN of this city having an interest therein, and it was while employed there that MR. JONES suffer- ed the amputation of one arm. Father of MRS. MINEHART The victim of the accident was the father of MRS. JEANNETTE MINEHART, of this city, who left here ten days ago to make her home for the winter in Chicago with a daughter. There are a number of other relatives here. The body of MR.
