         NAPERVILLE, Ill., Oct. 19 - Death has removed from our
       midst another old citizen, the Rev. JOHN M. SINDLINGER,
       a pioneer preacher of the Evangelical Church. He died at
       his residence in this place, Thursday morning, Oct. 18,
       at the advanced age of 76 years. MR. SINDLINGER was born
       in Kuppinger, Wurtemburg, Germany, July 24, 1807, and
       there resided for twelve years, and received a fair edu-
       cation in the school of his native town. In 1819 he came
       to America with his parents, residing first in Philadel-
       phia, and afterward at Blockhouse, Pa., where he lived
       twenty-seven years. May 6, 1830, he married PHILLIPENA
       HAYD. He was converted under the preaching of Bishop
       Seibert, and was licensed to preach in 1833. He remained
       in the ministry of the Evangelical Church for over forty
       years, and was at one time Presiding Elder of one of its
       districts. He came to Illinois some twenty-five years
       ago, and resided at Freeport and Plainfield. In 1871 he
       came to Naperville, and has resided here ever since. His
       health has been gradually failing for the past year. 
       There was no particular disease, only a slow wearing out
       of his physical powers. His death was that of a Christian,
       calm, peaceful, and beautiful. He leaves a widow and the
       following children: Mrs. MARY J. HEIDNER, wife of Professor
       F. W. HEIDNER, of the college; WM. M. SINDLINGER, of Water-
       loo, Iowa, and A. W., S. S., and DANIEL SINDLINGER, of
       Buena Vista, Col. The funeral will take place Monday at
       the brick church.
