Monday, 7 July, 1873

         On the *th inst., EBENEZER JONES, a sailor on the
       schooner W. T. Allen fell from the masthead to the
       deck, and was killed. On the arrival of the vessel
       at his port, yesterday, the body was taken to the
       morgue, where an inquest will be held.

         EBENEZER JONES fell from the masthead of schooner
       W. F. Allen and instantly killed on the upward bound
       voyage.
       
       [Transcriber Note: The schooner is named as the W. T
       Allen and the W. F. Allen. Neither of these appear in
       the Merchant Vessel List of 1873.]
