ANNA GESS, PIONEER, PASSES Relative of Robert E. Lee Came to Idaho in 1868; Leaves One Son and Two Daughters. BOISE, Idaho. - One of Boises early pioneers, MRS. ANNA M. GESS, died last week and was buried beside her husband in Pioneer cemetery August 28. MRS. GESS was born in Lafayette, Mo., the eldest daughter of MALINDA LEE and HARVEY T. CREWS. Through her mother she was related to the ROBERT E. LEE family of Virginia. She was educated at the private schools of Boonville, Mo., and was married at St. Joseph, Mo., to THOMAS BENTON GESS and came to Idaho with him to make their home in October, 1868. They maintained the family home at 822 Thatcher street for 25 years. MRS. GESS had been in f*** health for the last seven years. Her activi- ties outside her home were confined to the First Christian church, which was organized in her home. But one charter member now remains. JUDGE W. F. RYALS of Star. MRS. GESS is survived by her chil- dren, WILLIAM H. GESS of H****, MRS. NELLIE G. STEPHENSON and MRS. LULU E.
