         JAMES YOUNG PASSES AWAY
         
         He Came to Cedar Rapids in 1872 and
           Was 81 Years Old
           
         JAMES YOUNG, 338 Thirteenth avenue west,
       for many years a resident of this city, died
       last night at the age of 81 years, following
       several years of poor health. The deceased
       was born October 16, 1832, in Fairfield county
       Ohio, and came to Cedar Rapids in May, 1872.
       He was for some time engaged in the grocery
       business, but retired from it about twenty-
       five years ago. He is survived by three sons
       and one daughter, MRS. EDWARD SAFELY of Alex-
       ander, N.D., F. M. YOUNG of Logansport, Ind.;
       WILEY E. YOUNG of St. Paul, Minn.; and JOHN
       YOUNG of Oshkosh, Wis.; also one sister, MRS.
       MIKE PEASELY, and a brother, GEORGE W. YOUNG
       of Cedar Rapids, and another brother, JOHN
       N. YOUNG residing in South Dakota.
