CALVIN WILCOX of South Second street was horrified to find the lifeless body of her husband hanging to a rafter of the woodshed near the house at 9 o'clock yester- day morning. He had tied a piece of cotton rope around his neck, fastened it to the rafter and had evidently jumped from a step nearby, as the body was dragging on the floor. Sheriff Henry Kruse and Esquire James Ralston were called and as they did not think it necessary to hold an inquest, they cut the body down. MR. WILCOX was well known in the city as a woodsawer and a civil war veteran. Always good natured and enjoying excellent health, no reason is known for his desire to take his own life. He was last seen by John Carter, a neigh- bor, at 7 o'clock and was going toward the woodshed. He had been in good spirits the evening before and had had a friendly chat with that same neighbor. he was about 75 years of age and leaves a wife and three grown up daughters. ===============================================================================
