                             BEAR GROVE TOWNSHIP
                               Early Settlement

          H. G. VAN VLACK came to Bear Grove township in March, 1869, and
       settled on section 11. Here he remained about a year, when he sold
       out and removed to Union township, where he still lives, one of the
       representative and influential men of that section of the county.
       The farm where he settled, is now the property of MR. BICKETT.
