Speelman was born in Green county, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1817. He was married in Fayette county of the same State, in 1844, to ELIZABETH ISHERWOOD who was burn in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, July 14, 1819. In 1855 they came to Iowa and settled five miles east of Marion, in Linn county, and lived there seven years. They removed to Jones county in 1862, where they owned a farm. In 1869 they came to this county and bought a farm of eighty acres in section 13, of Bear Grove, where they now live. They have two children — JOHN W. and NORA. ===========================================================================
