        JOHAN JOHANNIS, a native of Germany, was born on the 6th of May,
     1828, where he was reared on a farm.  In 1864, he left his native land
     and emigrated to America, where he settled in New York, but soon moved
     to Cook county, Illinois, and there remained until 1879, when he
     came to Cass county, settling in Victoria township, where he has
     planted shade trees, built a fine house and has improved his land.
     Mr. JOHANNIS was married in 1853, to MARY MUNS.  They have had six
     children — CHARLIE, WILLIAM, HENRY, AUGUST, MARY and LEWIS.
