He came to Cass county in the fall of 1872, and in the winter of 1874-5 he purchased the southeast quarter of section 14. He has improved this farm, and has planted an orchard and has some fine farm buildings. He was born in Derbyshire, England, in 1845. and was there located until 1869, when he left his home and emigrated to America, locating in New York. On the fourth of July, of the same year he moved to Wisconsin and there remained until 1873, when he came to his present location. He was married in 1873, to ELIZABETH S. WALKER, a native of Illinois.
