Vail medal awards and honors for their heroism in warning resi- dents of Santa Clara River valley of the flood let loose when St. Francis dam gave away Monday night. Prominent among these are LUCILLE ZAHNISER, agent of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company at Newhall, and AGNES ARMSTRONG an operator of the same town. At Fillmore MRS. CARRIE JOHNSON stayed at the switch- board at the time of the flood and at Santa Paula the operator who received and passed along the first calls is MISS LOUISE GIPE. ===============================================================================
