George Clark, Maritime Mine, was braking on motor. He had cut loads loose from motor and aimed to jump off to change switch, when the gauntlet of his glove caught on hand hold on motor car, jerking him down in the middle of the track and six loaded cars passed over him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Frazier, Barney (American; 3-days exp; age 18; Single) Thompson, Thornton (American; 3-mos exp; age 16; Single) Sept. 6. 1901. Barney Frazier and Thornton Thompson, Red Jacket Mine, were killed by a fall of slate. The slate men were working on draw slate and were unable to quite get it down, and told the men to be sure and stay out from under it. This was not obeyed and they went into place to do a few minutes' work when slate fell, crushing them. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bryant, Wm. (American; 2-mos exp; age 24; Loader; Single) Nov. 11, 1901. Wm. Bryant, Logan Mine, was loading coal for another man on 2nd west entry. There was a piece of slate which he had been told five minutes before the accident to take down. This he neglected to do and went ahead loading under dangerous slate which fell and killed him instantly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - DeMetro, Poyne (Bulgarian; 18-mos exp; age 25; Single; $350.00 Insurance) Dec. 24, 1901. Poyne DeMetro, Rutherford Mine and another man were loading a car and while doing so two small pieces of slate fell, at which time the man working with DeMetro told him to get out of the way, and before he could do so a large piece of slate fell on him and killed him.
