FORD'S BODY IT WAS FOUND IN THE RIVER BELOW FIGHTING ISLAND The body of CAPT. JOHN FORD, late keeper of the Bar Point lightship, was discovered late yesterday afternoon floating in the Canadian channel below Fighting Island. It was first sighted by FRED VIGNEUX, who went out in a small boat and towed the body ashore and then notified Coroner LaBELLE, of Windsor. The remains were then taken to Joyce's morgue in Windsor, but later removed to Cunningham's morgue in Detroit, after they had been identi- fied by two sons of the dead man. CAPT. FORD, who had been with the lighthouse establishment for over thirty years, was lost from his sailboat last Tuesday while he was returning to Bar Point light after visiting the Mt. Elliott supply depot for provisions. At the time he went overboard his assistant was asleep in the boat and knew nothing of the disapearance. CAPT. FORD lived at 386 Eighteenth street and is survived by a widow and seven children, six boys and a girl. ===============================================================================
